The ICAO Facilitation 2024 Photo Competition

Banner.jpg

The ICAO Facilitation 2024 Photo Competition invites governmental authorities, industry and travellers to capture what facilitation means to them through photography. The competition provides a unique opportunity to convey the challenges, opportunities and benefits of all efforts to make the movements of travellers, crew, cargo and aircraft more efficient internationally and to demonstrate how facilitation enhances air transport, and thereby enriches global connectivity. As we celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Annex 9 - Facilitation, lets reflect on how matters have progressed so significantly in this time while also looking to the future of smooth and seamless travel and movement through the lens of a camera!

Competition theme: Past. Present. Future: 75 Years of Enabling Air Travel

Competition details:

  • Eligibility: The competition welcomes participation from any adult individual globally.
  • Submission guidelines: Simply submit your photographs by clicking on the button below. Submitted photos must be maximum 5MB in size. Please reduce the file size prior to submitting photos through this page if required. In case of selection of the photo for future printing, the selection panel will liaise with the photo owner to obtain a high quality image for printing, as required. Files must be submitted in .png or.jpg format.
  • Submission deadline: The submission period for photographs is open from now until 30 November 2024.
  • Competition winners: A selection of submissions will be chosen as competition winners by a judging panel comprising members of the ICAO Secretariat Facilitation Section. Decisions will be based on the visual impact of the photos as judged by the panel, their relevance to air transport facilitation and their alignment with the competition theme. Winners will be notified by email. No additional rewards will be offered.
  • Exhibition: Selected photographs will take center stage in an exhibition at ICAO Facilitation events in the coming months.

Potential focus areas:

  • The seamless traveller journey: Showcase how process innovation and technologies make traveller movements more efficient and pleasant.
  • Connecting people: Highlight how efficient transit through air transport facilities helps to connect people for both business and pleasure.
  • Cooperation for facilitation: Demonstrate the power of people working together to deliver better facilitation of air transport.
  • Advancing cargo movements: Capture the intricate and complex efforts required to move cargo through facilities and on and off planes to assure that it moves where it needs to be.
  • A future of efficiency: Capture how modern and future-oriented technologies, advanced process modelling and innovation could push air transport to move people and cargo even more efficiently in the future
  • Empowerment and inclusion: Demonstrate how facilitation requires people working together across divisions, borders and with an international perspective in order to advance processes for the benefit of all, and how we work together to make transport systems fully accessible to the entire global community.
  • Compassion and understanding: Visualize how compassion and understanding of people's needs is at the heart of facilitation, for example when providing assistance to aircraft accident victims and their families.

Please note that while these suggestions provide specific focus areas, participants are encouraged to explore any topics that resonate with the theme.
