The seminar will review the state of worldwide activities on the use of alternative fuels in aviation, life-cycle analysis methodologies and sustainability criteria, financing and assistance programmes, and the legal and regulatory frameworks that support the development and deployment of these fuels in aviation. The role of biofuels in States’ Voluntary Action Plans for reducing CO
2 emissions, ICAO assistance projects, and the global market-based measure (GMBM) scheme will also be addressed.
Pursuant to discussions conducted during the 39th Session of the ICAO Assembly, this event will provide a forum for the exchange of information and will serve as a basis for the ICAO Conference on Aviation Alternative Fuels which will be convened later in 2017. It is an opportunity for networking among States and industry stakeholders involved in activities related to sustainable alternative fuels for aviation.
A keynote speech will be delivered by
Ms. Rachel Kyte, Chief Executive Officer of the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All) and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy.
An industry exhibit will showcase the breadth of existing and emerging technologies, and research and development activities of this industry sector.
