About the event
The second Model ICAO Forum took place from 12 to 14 December in Shenzhen, China, as a side event of the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) Global Summit. The event was aimed at raising awareness on issues pertaining to civil aviation, and at inspiring a new generation of aviation professionals.
The Forum engaged 180 university students, coming from 27 universities in 28 different countries and was organized in conjunction with the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics (CSAA) and the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government of Guangdong Province, with the support of Beihang University.
Participants have worked together in teams, and proposed solutions to a specific aviation case study presented to a panel of aviation experts, across four simultaneous workshops, with prizes for the winning submissions.
The four case studies the students worked on were on the following topics:
Stream 1 - Unmanned Aircraft Systems: Aviation for Next Generation
Stream 2 - Dangerous Air Cargo
Stream 3 - The Socio-Economic Benefits of Air Transport
Stream 4 - Aviation Security: Strengthening Aviation Security Systems
The overall winner of the Forum was awarded by the Secretary General to Stream 1, which presented an outstanding solution to a case study involving a safety assessment for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) operations.
