Certifications earned, renewed, or revalidated:
ISO 9001:2015 (quality), ISO 14001:2015 (environment), ISO 45001:2018 (health and safety), ISO 20109:2016 and 2603:2016 (simultaneous interpreting equipment and permanent booths), BNQ 9700-253 (event sustainability).
In 2019, Venue and Event Management (VEM) upgraded its integrated management system, Quality, Environment, Occupational Health and Safety Management System (QEHSMS) and earned/renewed three ISO certifications: ISO 9001:2015 (quality), and ISO 14001:2015 (environment) and ISO 45001:2018 (health and safety). VEM also revalidated its compliance with requirements for simultaneous interpreting equipment and permanent booths (ISO 20109:2016 and 2603:2016)
In 2019, VEM and ETS began operating a brand new digital recording system offering on-demand audio and video for broadcasted open meetings.
Accessibility of conference and meeting facilities
ICAO Headquarters building is compliant with the recommendations contained in a report of the Joint Inspection Unit entitled “Enhancing accessibility for persons with disabilities to conferences and meetings of the United Nations system” (JIU/REP/2018/6). Further efforts are being made to ensure that accessibility of facilities is also implemented in the Regional Offices.
Major renovations
In coordination with Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC), major renovation projects in 2019 included the renovation of the majority of the Delegation offices, enhancements to the exterior public areas, and improvements to common areas.
