The Sixtieth Meeting of the North Atlantic Systems Planning Group (NAT SPG/60) was held in the European and North Atlantic (EUR/NAT) Office of ICAO from 25 to 28 June 2024.

The Meeting was chaired by Mrs. Hlin Holm (Iceland). Mr. Nicolas Rallo, ICAO EUR/NAT Regional Director, acted as Secretary, assisted by ICAO staff.

As this was the 60th anniversary of the NAT SPG, the Meeting highlighted that for six decades, the NAT SPG had been an example of what could be achieved through cooperation among States. With ICAO providing the framework, the NAT SPG has brought together Member States, Air Navigation Service Providers, international organizations and other partners, to shape the future of aviation in the North Atlantic region. Through innovation and the adoption of new technologies, the NAT SPG achieved remarkable milestones in air navigation, safety, capacity and efficiency. The future focus of the NAT SPG would remain on delivering enhanced sustainability and resilience in civil aviation as the priority topics for the years to come. NAT SPG is well positioned to tackle e current and future challenges in the same manner as before.

The focus of the 60th meeting was the NAT project on removal of oceanic clearance, accommodation of the new entrants, in particular commercial space operations, as well as other implementations to enhance safety and sustainability of NAT operations.
