UTM as an Enabler for
Collaborative Operating Environments
A collaborative operating environment could be seen as a volume of airspace with intermixed operations between small unmanned aircraft (UA), complex BVLOS UA, at scale, other new entrants under the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) umbrella as well as existing manned aircraft in the lower airspace. The webinar will focus on the potential enabling aspects of advanced UTM capabilities and how these could support a collaborative operating environment. The speakers will provide detailed examples of the UTM capabilities that could support the variety of operations conducted by existing users and new entrants, operating in shared airspace.

Mr. Christoph Raab
Alliance for New Mobility Europe (AME), (Secretary General)
Christoph Raab is Secretary General of the Alliance for New Mobility Europe (AME), a European organisation for the integration of UAVs, their related services and eVTOLs into aviation and other ecosystems. Before, from 2018 to 2020 he acted as Executive Director for Drone Alliance Europe (DAE). From 2009 to 2016, Christoph Raab was Chairman of the European Security Round Table (ESRT), a Brussels based policy forum for security and defence matters. Since November 2005, he has assumed the management of COPURA, an event management company. From 2002 to 2005, he was parliamentary assistant in the European Parliament. Christoph Raab holds a degree in Economics at the University of Trier, a Masters degree from the College of Europe (Natolin) an MPhil from the University of Kent (BSIS) and is a trained journalist. He is a regular speaker and moderator at international conferences and advisory boards on topics such as security and defence, cyber security and drones, and has published various articles on drones, security, defence & cyber security.

Mr. Steve Bradford
Office of NextGen – Federal Aviation Administration (Chief Scientist for Architecture and NextGen Development)
Steve Bradford is the Chair of the Technical Review Board that monitors technical decisions related to investments and the Enterprise Architecture. He is the FAA lead for the FAA/NASA Research Transition Team process that supports collaboration between the FAA and NAS on ATM related activities. A current focus of the RTT process is collaboration on UAS-in-the-NAS supporting vehicles operating in ATM, and UAS Traffic Management supporting operation in uncontrolled airspace, and AAM. The RTT's depend on direct partnership with the UAS industry and provide many opportunities to look at new technology options for both new entrants and traditional manned aircraft operations.
He also has a leading role in NextGen's International engagement activities with SESAR Joint Undertaking, and has led several co-operative international efforts with EUROCONTROL He was a member of the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) technical team that authored the Global Air Navigation Plan, the past US panel member to the ICAO Air Traffic Management Requirements and Performance Panel, and the Chair for the ICAO GANP Study Group.
Mr. Koen De Vos
Global UTM Association (GUTMA) (Secretary-General)
Secretary-General of the Global UTM Association (GUTMA) since April 2021, after retiring from the European Commission in 2020. In the Commission, Koen had been working as senior drone expert since 2015. Before becoming drone expert, Koen had worked on airport noise and was between 2002 and 2009 attached to the Single European Sky team. He joined the services of the European Commission in 1993 to work on social and employment issues. Before the Commission Koen worked at the University of Antwerp and at the Higher Institute for Labour Studies in Leuven, Belgium.
Mr. Hendrik-Jan Van Der Gucht
Skeydrone (Managing Director)
Hendrik-Jan is an experienced aviation professional who graduated with a Master of Science (MSC) in engineering sciences at the Royal Military Academy in 2003. He has held executive management positions within both civil and military Air Traffic Management organizations. Driven by the potential of technological progress, he gets his energy from leading complex change and innovation projects.
After obtaining an MBA at the Vlerick Business School in 2018, he joined SkeyDrone as CEO in 2020. SkeyDrone is a U-space technology start-up and joint venture of skeyes, the Belgian Air Navigation Service Provider, and Brussels Airport Company.
Mr. Mark Watson
CANSO (Head of UTM Service Integration, NATS)
Mark Watson is the head of UTM Service Integration at NATS and specialises in airspace integration of new and existing airspace users. Mark works with a range of companies in this space to help achieve their flight operations whilst identifying the future role of NATS in the emerging uncrewed economy, and particularly the services it should provide as an ANSP.
Mark is a prominent voice in the UTM industry having been a founding member of the Global UTM Association where he supported the growth of the UTM community by connecting it to the established air traffic management industry. Mark and his NATS colleagues are now focused on including Air Mobility sector in this collaborative approach to airspace integration by starting a UK-based Advanced Air Mobility Operators forum to complement a highly successful UK BVLOS Operators Forum that it started in 2021.
Mark represents NATS on various government and institutional advisory panels within the UK and internationally, and including CANSO.
