Description:
The ICAO Innovation Workshop for the EUR/NAT area explores several pioneering concepts that will help shape the future of air transport. The workshop will be held during the Fourth Meeting of the European Region Aviation System Planning Group (EASPG). It will showcase innovative concepts in aviation that have the potential to help progress the ICAO Strategic Objectives and enable the recovery and resilience of the aviation system. The workshop will provide some information on the framework and regulations that can unlock innovation, new operational opportunities and explore some progressive technologies.

Ms. Daniela Defossar, EASA ICAO Senior Coordinator
| Daniela Defossar, a German national, is leading EASA's ICAO efforts as well as supporting the bilateral relations with the US and Canada. She joined EASA in 2004 and held various managerial and technical positions. She started in the Rulemaking Directorate, developing rules in several domains. She managed the publication of the initial EASA Air Operations rules. She supported States in building their safety oversight capacity, supported EASA's SMS implementation, coordinated research and standard development activities, managed EASA's relations with its Member States and industry stakeholder advisory bodies and developed European/EASA strategies and policies. As part of an ICAO secondment, she contributed to the development of the GASOS Programme. Before joining EASA, she worked for two commercial air transport operators in flight and ground operations. Daniela holds a master's degree in political science, administrative law, and history from the University of Bonn.

Mr. Farid ZIZI, Director of France Aviation Civile Services
| Farid ZIZI is Administrator and Executive Director of France Aviation Civile Services. Before joining France Aviation Civile Services, Farid Zizi was Senior Advisor to the French DGAC, supporting DGAC action in terms of Safety Management, Security and Airport Safety. Farid Zizi was in charge of scientific and international policy of the STAC and especially leading all transversal activities, coordinating ICAO and European activities. Among these activities the growing importance of Cybersecurity and drones have led the STAC to develop a dedicated approach to support French DGAC on these matters, combining its experience on Aviation Security and Safety Management and Risk Assessment in ATM. Farid has been President of the ICAO Air Navigation Commission from 2014 to 2016. Nominated by France in 2010 to the Air Navigation Commission, he has been, among other activities, in charge of coordinating ANC preparation and follow-up on the 12th Air Navigation Conference which lead to 4th edition of the GANP. He managed during his time the MH 370 crisis and is at the origin of Global Aeronautical Distress Safety System.

Dr. Eduardo Garcia, CANSO Manager European ATM Coordination and Safety
| Dr. Eduardo García is the CANSO Manager European ATM Coordination and Safety. He coordinates and advocates CANSO Europe positions on technical, operations and safety matters. He received the SESAR Distinguished Service Award for sustained outstanding performance in the HALA! (Higher Automation Levels in ATM) Research Network by the SESAR Scientific Committee and was also awarded the "Safety Award in Mechanical Engineering" by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers UK.

Mr. Olivier Husse, Aviation Environmental Roadmap Director, Corporate Affairs at Airbus
| Olivier Husse is an experienced director at Airbus Corporate Affairs with a demonstrated history of working in the aviation and aerospace industry. He is skilled in international aviation environmental policies and regulations, aviation sustainability, stakeholder management and leadership. Today, Olivier engages with stakeholders (e.g. ICAO) on climate-related matters and focuses on roadmaps for the decarbonisation of Air transport, with the objective of bringingstakeholders together on common and ambitious goals. Prior to his current role, Olivier was leading the environmental policy for propulsion systems at Engineering and was involved in the development of international regulations for aviation environmental protection. Recently, Olivier was appointed co-Vice Chair of the ICCAIA ANEC committee to support the global manufacturing industry, in particular in the Committee for Aviation Environmental Protection (CAEP) at ICAO.hr |
Dr. Christoph Falter, Head of Strategy, Synhelion
| Dr. Christoph Falter received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from RWTH Aachen in 2017. He has more than ten years of experience in the experimental and theoretical analysis of various alternative fuel pathways including biofuels, power-to-liquid fuels, and solar thermochemical fuels. He has published several scientific journal articles quantifying their thermodynamic, environmental, and economic potential. Christoph worked at the German research institute Bauhaus Luftfahrt and in the Laboratory for Aviation and the Environment at MIT before joining Synhelion as Head of Strategy in 2022. He served as US delegate to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and is Task leader of the SolarPACES conference on techno-economic analysis of solar fuels.
