Protocols Amending Articles 50 (a) and 56
The 39th Session of the Assembly adopted two resolutions (A39-4 and A39-6) approving amendments to Articles 50 (a) and 56, respectively, of the Convention on International Civil Aviation. The amendment to Article 50 (a) increases the membership of the Council from 36 to 40, while the amendment to Article 56 increases the membership of the Air Navigation Commission from 19 to 21.
The two Protocols of Amendment were signed by the Secretary General and the President of the Assembly on 6 October 2016. The Assembly also adopted Resolutions A39 5 and A39-7 recommending to all Contracting States that they ratify most urgently these amendments, as well as directing the Secretary General to bring these Resolutions to the attention of the Contracting States as soon as possible.
