Technical Assistance Projects
On the occasion of the May 2017 Belt and Road Forum (held in Beijing), China and ICAO signed an Agreement on “Economic and Technical Cooperation”. China agreed to provide ICAO with an earmarked contribution of USD 4 million under the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund of which USD 2 million will support technical cooperation projects in Africa, more specifically in Congo and the United Republic of Tanzania. The funding will enable ICAO to provide technical assistance to enhance each State’s Civil Aviation Authority’s safety oversight capacity.
