Transparency
In 2021, the Secretariat continued to provide comprehensive information to the Council on matters relating to administrative and financial issues by means of:
- sixty-three working papers (15 for the 222nd Council Session, 23 for the 223rd Session and 25 for the 224th Session);
- seventy-two oral reports (17 during the 222nd Council Session, 30 during 223rd Session and 25 during 224th Session); and
- seven informal briefings (one during the 222nd Council Session, four during the 223rd Session and two during the 224th Session).
Further efforts were made to enhance access to Council information on the public website. A total of six informal briefings of the Council, totalling 11.5 hours of discussions, were streamed on ICAO TV. These included:
support and capacity-building in greening aviation during the COVID-19 pandemic;
the Comprehensive Regional Implementation Plan for Aviation Safety in Africa (AFI Plan);
smart vaccination certificates;
the International Aviation Trust Framework;
an update on the long-term global aspirational goal for international aviation; and
sustainability certification of Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) eligible fuels.
