ICAO's Strategy for Regional Traffic Forecasting Activity addresses the increasing demand for specific long-range forecasts and economic planning inputs, notably in connection with measures to reduce airport and airspace congestion. As direct technical support to assist in air navigation systems planning and implementation, regional Traffic Forecasting Groups (TFGs) were established and are being serviced in the regions of Asia/Pacific (APA TFG), The Caribbean/South America (CAR/SAM TFG), the Middle East ( TFSG) and Africa/Indian Ocean (AFI TFG).
Asia/Pacific Area Traffic Forecasts, 2012-2032
These were developed by the APA TFG at its sixteenth meeting (September 2012) and contain long-term passenger and aircraft movement forecasts of the Transpacific and Intra-Asia/Pacific areas to the year 2032, medium-term passenger forecasts for selected major city-pairs of the Transpacific and Intra-Asia/Pacific areas to the year 2016 as well as analyses of FIR data for a sample week of 1-7 July 2011 and 2012 for Fukuoka, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Kolkata FIRs, including the analysis of transpacific peak-hour aircraft movements.
Africa-Indian Ocean Regional Traffic Forecasts, 2012-2032
This report contains medium- and long-term air traffic forecasts for the major route groups to, from and within the Africa/Indian Ocean Area, in terms of both passengers and aircraft movements. It also contains movement forecasts at city-pair level for the top 25 city-pairs for each route group and two separate analyses of FIR traffic data for the airspaces controlled by ASECNA and Seychelles for the year 2012 including various peak period parameters. The results of the analysis of yearly traffic for the period 2000-2012 and monthly traffic for the year 2012 for the Dar es Salaam FIR are also included in the report.
The Caribbean and South American Regional Traffic Forecasts, 2011-2031
This report contains long-term air traffic forecasts for the major route groups to, from and within the Caribbean and South American region, in terms of both passengers and aircraft movements. It also contains a breakdown of movement forecasts at city-pair level of all major route groups, together with peak-period parameters and analyses of COCESNA (Central American Corporation for Air Navigation Services) FIR.
