The Eighth Meeting of the Regional Airspace Safety Monitoring Advisory Group (RASMAG/8), Bangkok, Thailand, 10 – 14 December 2007
As well as attending to their ongoing work programme, the Eighth Meeting of the APANPIRG Regional Airspace Safety Monitoring Advisory Group (RASMAG/8), held from 10 to 14 December, 2007 at the ICAO Asia/Pacific Office, celebrated two milestone events in the Asia/Pacific region.
After conducting a technical review of Japan’s submission for accreditation as an APANPIRG approved RVSM Regional Monitoring Agency (RMA) for the Asia/Pacific Region, RASMAG/8 endorsed the JCAB RMA as an Asia/Pacific RMA in accordance with APANPIRG's Conclusion 18/6 and offered full congratulations to JCAB RMA for achieving APANPIRG RMA status. RASMAG looked forward to continuing to work with the JCAB RMA in undertaking regional safety monitoring activities that would help to ensure the continued safe operation of RVSM in the Asia/Pacific region.
RASMAG/8 was also pleased to welcome a delegation from China to the RASMAG meeting forum for the first time. The November 2007 implementation of RVSM in China had been supported by comprehensive RVSM safety assessments which had been prepared by the RMA established by China specifically for this purpose, with support and oversight from existing Asia/Pacific RMAs. China would continue to develop the China RMA with the objective of gaining APANPIRG accreditation as an Asia/Pacific RMA via RASMAG during 2008 and was appreciative of the support of RASMAG in this regard.
