Upon request of several ICAO Member States in the Eastern part of the EUR region, two regional officers from the ICAO EUR/NAT regional office held an AVSEC seminar in Tashkent from 15 to 17 April 2013. 21 AVSEC experts from 5 different States (Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan) attended the seminar. Topics were chosen to follow up on the ICAO High Level Security Conference (September 2012) and recent developments in the past 6 months. The seminar aimed to provide States with a better understanding of the decisions and the respective implementation action expected from States.
From 18 to 25 April 2013 ICAO provided a National Inspectors Course for AVSEC experts in Uzbekistan responding to a request of the Member State. It was the first time ever that ICAO provided AVSEC training in and for Uzbekistan. 14 AVSEC experts from CAA, different airports in Uzbekistan, Uzbekistan Airways and from the aviation training institute of Uzbekistan participated in the training. The course aimed to familiarize with and to train experts on the ICAO audit and inspection methodology for national AVSEC quality control activities. All participants passed the final test and the newly acquired knowledge shall support them in their own inspection work conducted on national, airport or airline level.
