The fifty-sixth meeting of the North Atlantic Implementation Management Group (NAT IMG/57) was held via teleconference sessions (Webex) from 3 to 6 November 2020.
The NAT IMG noted with appreciation that a number of South Atlantic (SAT) group representatives were also in attendance. In this regard, the enhanced coordination and cooperation through facilitation of the ICAO Atlantic Coordination Meeting (ACM) between the SAT and NAT was highlighted. It was noted that it had already resulted in a number of improvements, such as the implementation of strategic lateral offset procedure (SLOP) authorisations and harmonised contingency procedures.
The NAT IMG discussed a number of important issues related to NAT operations enhancements planning and implementation. In particular the successful completion of the ASEPS trials and commencement of the operational phase, NAT accommodation measures for COVID-19 related contingencies and development of the NAT 2030 Vision were the highlights of the meeting.
Representatives from Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Portugal, United Kingdom and United States were in attendance, as well as International Air Transport Association (IATA), the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) and the International Federation of Air Line Pilots' Associations (IFALPA) participated at the meeting. Technical support was provided by the EUR/NAT Office of ICAO.
