The first meeting of the South Atlantic Implementation Monitoring Group SAT IMG was organized, with the support of ASECNA, in Abidjan, Cote D´Ivoire from 21 to 24 November 2022.
The participants discussed the significant aviation developments, the planned operational improvements and the airspace and ATS route structures for the harmonization and cross-regional coordination for the enhancement of remote oceanic operations in the South Atlantic.
The meeting agreed to several action items, like the revision of the South Atlantic (SAT) contingency plan, or the timelines for Air Traffic Services Inter-facility Data Communication (AIDC) and ADS-B implementation in specific SAT FIRs and reviewed the South Atlantic Operational Strategy from IATA.
Representatives from 13 States, 3 International organizations and 3 ICAO Regional Offices (EUR/NAT, ESAF and WACAF) participate at this meeting.
The next SAT IMG meeting is planned for May 2023.
