Since the outbreak of the COVID-19, and as part of the central role of ICAO to articulate the global recovery plans and actions, the EUR/NAT Regional Office has been actively involved in various activities to support States and the aviation industry at regional and national levels, in collaboration with relevant international and regional organizations.
To facilitate preparation for vaccine transportation particularly in the Eastern part of ICAO EUR Region, the ICAO EUR/NAT Office and the Interstate Aviation Committee have organized this joint webinar "Preparation and implementation of a plan for COVID-19 vaccines delivery by air" within the framework of the ICAO-IAC Project «Improvement of flight safety and airworthiness in the IAC States».
This webinar covered, with presentations from ICAO Officers as well other international organizations, several areas: the security and facilitation aspects of vaccines transportation, the economics aspects with concrete examples and best practices from States as well as the safety and dangerous goods transportations.
Initially planned mostly for Russian speaking States, the webinar was attended by more than a 100 specialists from 30 States. This successful seminar was supported as well by International and Regional partner organizations including WCO, UNECE, LACAC, IATA, GEA, and the industry who contributed with presentations.
