UAS/RPAS webinar (9 to 10 May 2023)
The Unmanned Aircraft Systems – Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems Implementation/Regulation Webinar for the APAC Region was held via video teleconference from 9 to 10 May 2023, which was participated by 127 participants from 21 States/administrations. The webinar’s objective is to provide an ICAO update on Unmanned Aircraft Systems regarding the latest developments in aspects of the regulatory framework, tools and guidance, as well as training and implementation support. Meanwhile, the key stakeholders from China, Hong Kong China, Japan, ROK and Singapore in the unmanned aviation sector have also been invited to exchange their best practices, lessons learned and respective challenges. In addition, during the interactive Q&A sessions, the presenters and participants jointly contributed more than 30 meaningful questions to facilitate the understanding of the related subjects. . PBNICG/10 (19 to 21 April 2023)
The TENTH Meeting of the Performance Based Navigation Implementation Coordination Group (PBNICG/10) was held in ICAO APAC RO Bangkok, Thailand, from 19-21 April 2023. The meeting was attended by 79 participants from Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, United States of America, Vietnam, IATA and ICAO.
Following main Agenda Items were deliberated:
Agenda Item 2: Global and Regional PBN Updates
Agenda Item 3: Implementation status of the Regional Transition Plan for RNP APCH Chart Identification from RNAV to RNP
Agenda Item 4: States' PBN Implementation Progress
Agenda Item 5: PBN Training for ATC
Agenda Item 6: Established on RNP AR (EoR)
Revised Navigation Strategy of the APAC region was discussed in detail and a consensus emerged on the draft strategy, which will be placed for discussion in GBAS-SBAS ITF/5 in June 2023 for matters related to GBAS and SBAS and thereafter will be put up to CNS SG/27 for deliberation and possible recommendation to APANPIRG/34 for adoption.
PBN training for ATC particularly highlighted QNH setting errors in Baro-VNAV procedures and possible mitigations. Established on RNP AR, a relatively new concept for parallel runway operations, was discussed in detail for the benefit of the region. SAIOSAECG/2(20 to 24 March 2023)
The SAIOSEACG/2 meeting was conducted by RSO/AOM from 20-24 March 2023. The meeting was attended by 65 participants from Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, United States of America, Viet Nam, IATA, IFATCA and ICAO. The objective of the SAIOSEACG is to identify the need for, plan and implement Air Traffic Management (ATM) improvements in the Indian Ocean, South Asia and Southeast Asia areas. 26 Working Papers (WP), 9 Information Papers (IP) and one presentation were considered by the meeting. BOBTFRG/4 (6 to 8 December 2022)
The Fourth Meeting of the Bay of Bengal Traffic Flow Review Group (BOBTFRG/4) was conducted by RSO/AOM from 6 to 8 December 2022, attended by 72 participants from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, USA, IATA, IFATCA and ICAO. The objectives of the meeting were to identify requirements and improvements for optimizing airspace capacity and maintaining an efficient route network across the Bay of Bengal airspace and routes leading towards Afghanistan's airspace; and monitor the status of implementation of the agreed ATS routes and airspace improvement projects.
