ICAO EUR/NAT Regional Green Airport Seminar, Almaty, Kazakhstan - 6 and 7 November 2024

ICAO EUR/NAT jointly organized with ACI EUROPE a Regional Green Airport Seminar hosted by the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan the 6 and 7 November 2024 in Almaty Kazakhstan.

The seminar was opened by Mr. Talgat Lastaev, Vice-Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan, Mr. Nicolas Rallo, ICAO Regional Director for the European and North Atlantic (EUR/NAT) Regions, Ms Saltanat Tompiyeva Chairwoman of the Civil Aviation Committee of Kazakhstan, Mr. Catalin Radu, Director General of the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan, Mr. Olivier Jankovec, Director General of ACI-Europe, and Mr. Serkan Kaptan Chief Executive Officer of TAV Holdings.


This regional event which followed the successful Global ICAO seminar held in Greece held in Athens in April 2024, Greece on 18-19 April 2024, which facilitated discussions encompassing ambitious net-zero goals and roadmaps for airports, as well as the transition to sustainable aviation fuels, lower carbon aviation fuels, and cleaner energy sources. The ICAO EUR/NAT Regional Green Airport seminar aimed at sharing of information and experience on the various activities undertaken at the airports level to address climate change and to help develop strategies and plans.


During this two-day seminar, experts from Governments, Civil Aviation Authorities, EUROCONTROL, airport operators, airlines, financial institutions and sustainable fuel suppliers presented their views, discussed and shared their best practices toward a more sustainable aviation eco-system.


A large range of topics were covered ranging from the innovations at airports and best practices, sustainable operations and infrastructures, the development and deployment of sustainable aviation fuels including at airports; the importance of the community engagement; financing green airports, and emerging trends for future developments at airports.


The event was attended by more than 130 participants from States and Organizations from the EUR/NAT Region.
