ICT Evolution and Strategic outlook
In 2016, ICT continued to deliver robust high-quality information systems in support of the Organization’s Strategic Objectives with a view to enhancing efficiency and effectiveness and reducing organization-wide overall operating costs. Following the upgrade of the Conference Block Wi-Fi and Data Storage system, to ensure business continuity leading up to and after the 39th Session of the Assembly, the infrastructure team in collaboration with Conference Services provided the Offices of the President and the Secretary General with an up-to-date executive level video conference room. Work also continued on the deployment of the Unified Communication and Internet Protocol Telephony Project, to continue to provide ICAO with a higher quality of service.
The ICT Web team contributed to the success of the 39th Session of the Assembly and World Aviation Forum in 2016 through the continuation of major upgrades to ICAO’s internal and public web platforms, as well as with the completion of a number of key projects. A complete technical and “look and feel” upgrade of the ICAO public website was concluded over the course of the year. The Organization’s public website was further improved by introducing the Spanish, Russian and Arabic languages to the homepage. Select articles and information are now available in the six official languages — and the collection continues to grow. In addition, electronic voting for Council elections was once again a success during the 39th Session of the Assembly, allowing voting to be completed in record time.
