Applying and Eligibility

Applying as a secondee

Applications for secondments to ICAO must be submitted and sponsored by either:

  • A national government.
  • An international organization external to the United Nations Common System.
  • An educational, scientific, research, or other institution.

Interested individuals much therefore contact and coordinate on their interest and potential application through one of these official entities.

Nominations for ICAO secondees must be submitted through a letter addressed to the office of ICAO’s Secretary General, together with supporting documentation. This includes a completed Personnel History Profile (PHP) Form, and the CV(s) of the nominated candidate(s).

The Personal History Profile Form can be completed by nominated candidates by creating an account and online profile via the UN Inspira career website. Once the online profile is completed, candidates can download a PDF copy of their PHP to include with their application.

Secondee nomination letters and supporting documents may be transmitted via email to sea@icao.int

Eligibility and gender equality

ICAO secondee applicants must be 65 years of age or younger and fully qualified for the positions ICAO is seeking support on.

States and relevant bodies are also highly encouraged to nominate female candidates in light of current gender equality priorities for international aviation.
