UNFCCC Conference of Parties (COP22)
The UNFCCC’s Marrakesh Climate Change Conference, held in November, was very eventful for ICAO, with high interest and praise for the Organization’s accomplishments during the 39th Session of the Assembly.
During the Marrakesh Conference, ICAO held two press conferences and organized three side events. ICAO was also invited to speak during the Showcase and Dialogue Sessions of the UNFCCC Transport Action Day, and in a series of side events organized by the Government of Indonesia, the European Parliament, World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), International Transport Forum (ITF), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Air Transport Action Group (ATAG), and International Emissions Trading Association (IETA).
Negotiations at the Marrakech Conference focused on matters relating to the entry into force and implementation of the Paris Agreement, and a series of decisions were adopted, including guidance on the completion of the work programme under the Paris Agreement.
The COP22 closing Plenary agreed on decision text related to preparations for the entry into force of the Paris Agreement, including taking note of the Resolutions adopted by the 39th Session of the ICAO Assembly.
