United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
In 2019, alongside the General Debate of the 74th session of the General Assembly, the UN Secretary-General convened a Climate Action Summit, the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) for Sustainable Development under the auspices of the General Assembly, an SDG Summit and three high-level meetings of the General Assembly on Universal Health Coverage, Financing for Development and a review of the Small Island Developing States Accelerated Modalities of Action (SAMOA) Pathway. SPCP represented the SG on the HLPF task team and coordinated ICAO’s participation in the HLPF through the successful submission of a side event concept note focused on Aviation’s contributions to the achievement of SDG13 (Climate action). SPCP also coordinated inputs into the special edition of the SDG report and supported the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) in the review of over 600 SDG good practices, success stories and lessons learned by all stakeholders in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs of which the results were made available in an online database.
