How You Can Support the ICAO Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) Programme
As the aviation sector confronts an unprecedented generational shift, the need to cultivate the next generation of skilled and diverse aviation professionals has never been more urgent. With growing concerns over workforce shortages, uneven global access to aviation education, and the rapid evolution of technologies and sustainability imperatives, ICAO’s Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) Programme offers a critical platform to address these global challenges head-on.
To maintain momentum and expand the reach of NGAP activities, ICAO is actively seeking in-kind and financial support from partners committed to shaping the future of aviation. Your support can play a transformative role—by enabling capacity-building, strengthening education pathways, and empowering youth worldwide to embark on impactful aviation careers.
Contributions to the NGAP Programme can be made in either financial or in-kind form, in full alignment with ICAO’s Resource Mobilization Policy. Financial contributions provide direct funding to support key activities such as staffing, training, fellowships, and event organization. While in-kind contributions involve the provision of expertise or services—such as seconded personnel, guidance materials, or technical support—which are equally valuable in advancing NGAP objectives. Both types of contributions are subject to ICAO’s due diligence and accountability frameworks, ensuring transparency, impact, and alignment with the Organization’s strategic priorities.
Donors interested in advancing the ICAO NGAP programme can contribute in various impactful ways, such as:
Sponsor or host global summits and regional symposiums focused on attracting and developing the aviation workforce.
Support the creation and deployment of IPACKs (implementation packages), training programs, and workshops to build capacity within the aviation sector.
Assist with data collection initiatives to enhance workforce planning and industry research.
Fund ICAO fellowships and scholarships to expand educational access for aspiring aviation professionals.
Contribute to the ICAO Young Aviation Professional Programme (YAPP), developed in collaboration with IATA and ACI, to cultivate the next generation of aviation leaders.
Partner on initiatives that promote NGAP and inspire youth interest in aviation studies and careers.
• Support the ICAO No Country Left Behind initiative by empowering countries and youth, including those from Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), and Small Island Developing States (SIDS), to access education and career opportunities in aviation.
