10th Anniversary of States' Action Plans
The year marked the tenth anniversary of the ICAO’s initiative on State Action Plans (SAP) to reduce aviation CO2 emissions since its launch in 2010 at the 37th Session of the ICAO Assembly. As of December, 120 States representing over 97 per cent of global revenue tonne-kilometre (RTK) voluntarily submitted their State Action Plan (SAP) on CO2 Emissions Reduction Activities for international aviation to ICAO.
In support of States’ efforts to develop or update their Action Plans, within the context of aviation’s green recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, a series of five virtual seminars were convened across the ICAO Regions in July and August 2020. In total, over 200 participants from 93 Member States received training through these events.
