Provision of language services during COVID-19
In response to a Council request to identify options for holding virtual meetings of the Council and its Standing Committees, the Secretariat successfully hosted such meetings during the 221st Session, with full interpretation services provided from the ICAO Headquarters premises to remotely located participants. To this effect, Guidelines for Virtual Meetings of the Standing Committees of the Council of ICAO, and Special Guidelines for Speaking in Virtual Meetings with Interpretation were prepared. Given the uncertainties of the COVID-19 crisis, the Secretariat has been exploring and testing fully virtual solutions that may be used in case a complete lockdown is decreed by the authorities.
